Stopping spam
Spam is hard to stop. There are ways to prevent and filter it.
Don't let your e-mail address be harvested in the first place.
DON'T unsubscribe to spam.
There are filtering programs that users or system managers can use that use rules to examine messages and identify them as spam. A search of www.tucows.com will turn up some freeware tools that you may try.
In the unix world there are numerous programs that are called by procmail that identify spam messages for further filtering. The most popular of these appears to be SpamAssassin.
Complain to the spammers ISP.
Block known spamming ISP's. See the status page under security for a list of ISP ranges that we are currently filtering.
Black hole lists. There are various black hole lists that some mail administrators subscribe to. These services have a dubious reputation.
