spam today
Spam seems to be exploding. I knew that it was a real problem when I turned on the TV on a Sunday afternoon and there was a paid infomercial telling how to set up a spamming company using only opt-in confirmed e-mails.
There is a perception by many people that spam is OK, 'if you don't like it just hit delete'.
The problem with that argument is:
It costs very little to send a spam therefore millions of 'just click deletes' waste a lot of human and computer time. If allowed to continue, most of our messages will be spam, making it hard to find the important messages.
A great deal of spam contains falsifications, which technically speaking constitutes wire fraud.
Theft of resources. Sendmail is a unique service in the computing world, it in essence allows anonymous writing to your server.
There are many anti-spam sites.
