Some of the many things that you will learn in CSC130 are how TCP/IP works, how the different protocols allow computers to communicate on the network, how to manage users and your network efficiently, how to interact with a wide variety of services, how to manage services and many other details of modern computer networks. The class is conducted in a modern lab with a purpose-built network for teaching the concepts of networking.

Students in CSC130 are supposed to have a basic understaning of at least one operating system, including being familiar with a command line environment such as a DOS command prompt in MS Windows. The prerequisite is CIS137 or equivalent experience.
